Bulk upload what you can
Bulk uploading payroll data and pay items is a great time-saver. Remember, you can upload multiple pay items or amounts on one sheet, so get all the variable data on one sheet and upload it in one go!
- Bulk upload work patterns
- Bulk update salaries
- Bulk add pay items
- Bulk update pensions
- Bulk update tax codes
- Bulk update student loans
Integrate your HRIS
If your HRIS integrates with UK Payroll, ensure it’s syncing employee data. This will save you the time and effort of manually updating multiple platforms.
Create a template for variable data
Collating variable data from various sources within your business can be tedious and difficult. Instead of chasing people for data, create a master template for your variable data, and ask your sources to fill out copies. Then, upload each spreadsheet into the system, or collate the information into one spreadsheet and upload.
Streamline your double checking
Instead of checking every line of data manually, UK Payroll has several features that allow you to check your work more efficiently.
- Check by exception, or filter by attributes like percentage change, to quickly understand key differences between payroll cycles.
- Download and review the variance report, which shows changes by pay items and employees. To learn more, see Access and download payroll documents.
Put time into building your payroll process
The more time you spend building your payroll and adjusting your processes as needed, the more time you will save in the future. Be open to changes and improvements in your payroll process, and try to build in efficiencies where you can.
For example, set up pay items at a company level, so you can easily add them into employee payslips. To learn more, see Add one-off and recurring pay items. Or, add enhanced company policies, such as enhanced parental pay, into the system. To learn how, see Parental pay and leave.
