The Password for P45s is the last 4 characters of an Employee's NI number (including the letter in upper case).
E.g. A National Insurance number of AB123456B would mean a password of 456B.
If an Employee does not have a National Insurance number in Pento at the time their payslip is generated, when payroll is paid, their password will be their DOB in the following format: DDMMYY
Please note – The change to DOB format is not backwards compatible. For any P45s generated before Friday, 27th May 2022, if the employee did not have a National Insurance number in Pento and had to use their DOB to open the P45, the DOB format for that P45 will remain to be DDMMYY. If the employee did hold a NI number within Pento, the P45 password will be the last four characters of an Employee's NI number (including the letter in upper case). E.g. 123C
